[music] Hello.
My name is Joel.
My life is all about grounding, healing, and transformation
through music, poetry, and meditation.
So if you're here, you found me because we resonate on the same frequency.
And maybe this time is the right time for us to divinely align.
This is a safe space for anyone from any place with any identity.
We practice acceptance, love, and peace.
Hello.
Good morning, beautiful souls.
Where have I been?
I took a break. I shared earlier. I was doing morning meditations and evening meditations.
So I was definitely stretching myself, preparing for each one of those, and just was honoring what I needed. So I left very little space to do live streams on TikTok.
And then I was traveling last month and played some music with Indi Arie. We had a show and spent two amazing weeks writing and connecting with--she had a few guests--and one of them was Eileen McCusick.
And she's the founder of Biofield Tuning. I'm using tuning forks. I have one. Actually, here's one right here.
This is one of her forks.
It was really wonderful to get to know her and learn about her modality
and what she found with these forks. Tuning your field of energy and tuning your chakras. It's kind of like an unofficial expansion of Reiki in a way. But it was really potent.
And during that process, we were learning with her, and we were all shifting our energy. But then different songs would come in. I'd get a song or Indi would get a song. And we'd just move over to the instruments and start playing and singing and capturing ideas.
It was a really beautiful time. A really, really, really beautiful time. I'm just on intuitively. So I'm hanging out. I've got any questions.
Any thoughts?
Where should we go this morning?
What is my biggest inspiration in my life?
My intuition, my heart.
I love everything about this life.
Nature, other people's creativity.
But when I feel really connected and I'm drawn,
and I feel that frequency in me moving.
And I love, there's always a measure of knowing and not knowing.
So I'll be drawn to a certain trail or a certain song or a certain key. And then I don't know what's going to happen next. And that just feels so, hmm, what's the word?
It's forward momentum. It's exhilarating. It's uplifting. I love that feeling.
So that's really what inspires me. Who's inspired me to be who I am today?
I'm not sure. Let me think on this a little while.
Maybe a more accurate or more resonant response for me is,
I've always known that there is a unique nature to each and every one of us.
And for a long time I knew that I wasn't in touch with that fully for myself.
Because of the way I felt depression or anxiety or suppressed.
Because I was betraying myself.
My thing is the fear was so big, I wasn't sure how to get from there to here.
And so along the way intuitively, I was drawn to a number of different things.
Everything really.
Whether it was music, performance, travel, books, trails, random places to random run-ins with strangers that became friends and teachers.
And they all taught me so many great lessons.
But ultimately, I guess the thread through was what I call mindfulness.
Or maybe my definition from mindfulness. Which is not exactly the mainstream definition, but this definition, attention with intention.
So attention, being very connected with the intention to expand, to know, to learn.
And through that process, I learned to hear my own voice. I learned to understand who I am.
I learned how to be connected to my own decision making and my intuition.
And that's an ongoing journey. Every day is new.
But I reached a point where I betrayed myself a lot less. And where I cared a lot less about what others thought of me. And I care a lot more about what I think of myself.
And betraying myself is no longer an option. And slowly that unfolded into what life is today.
But it was more of a practice of consistently trusting my heart, my intuition, my inner knowing.
How do you connect with your intuition?
Such a good question. I think each of us has a unique way where we know that our intuition is speaking or communicating.
And learning that language, I think, is a journey. And it starts with intention.
I speak about intention often. And it's connected to states of being.
Which is a bit different than the practical goal, right? Or the practical practice. Which is very tangible, easy to dictate.
But the reason I point you here is because there's a pitfall in all of this. And people will always say, "Oh, we need more people like you." Or, "I want to be like this person or that person."
And while it's beautiful to recognize and admire the light of others,
I've found that what you really want, what's more potent, is to be like you, your most authentic self.
And so learning that state of being, the state of being authentic, the state of being present, the state of being in your own power, that betraying, respectfully admiring, but knowing,
"I'm not here to be this other person."
Right? You may both have an interest in this art form or this literature, this subject.
But that already exists. I'm not here to do that.
So, connecting to your intuition, I think, starts with the intention.
And this is the intention that I have written on the back of my Rise Journal. It's, "May I be available to witness what I've never witnessed before about myself, so that I might heal and grow."
May I be available to witness what I've never witnessed before about myself, so that I might heal and grow.
That's a whole other way to perceive life, to show up.
Usually we're trying to, we show up, "How do I get? How do I do? How do I... How do I how, how, how?"
Versus, "May I be available, present."
Right? Taking down the mask, letting go of the projections.
And setting that intention allows you to perceive life differently.
And you'll notice that your intuition is always speaking in so many different ways. We have primordial intelligence in every part of our being, in the body, in your heart, in your mind, in your creativity.
In what you're drawn to, in what you're averse to.
Your intuition is incessant. It's around you always.
It's not separate from you. It's driving every act.
The question is, "Are you connected enough to hear it? Are you present enough? Are you available?"
And you want to connect to your intuition, be still.
You want to hear its voice, be silent.
You want to learn its language, listen.
That's the beauty of mindfulness, that attention with the intention.
So, you can set your attention on anything.
But, maybe start with this intention, "May I be available to witness what I've never witnessed before."
Witness what you've never witnessed before.
About yourself, so that you might heal and grow.
And you'll notice this incessant chatter of the mind.
Always going, always thinking, the monkey mind, left, right.
Diagn all in every other direction, all at once, unpredictably moving from subject to subject.
And if you're able to have a moment where you can witness that act, those thoughts,
well now you've connected to something beyond the thoughts. Which means, "Oh, I'm not my thoughts."
Right? That's called meta-awareness. Aware of your thoughts.
Now, when you can see the thoughts, there's a space in your meta-awareness where you can detach from those thoughts. It just comes from practicing, right? It's more practically said, "Stay connected to your breath. Stay focused on your breath. Don't let your mind wander. Rather, don't attach to your wandering mind."
And once you're detached, you become aware of a whole other entity, and our wisdom, intuition.
But it takes practice. And in that space, there's so much magic and mystery.
Because you see the anxious mind, the monkey mind, is connected to your primal biology. It's built on trying to survive, right? So it's usually running anxiously because it thinks there's danger of some kind.
And so you're trying to prevent situation or control the situation so that you feel comfortable.
The only problem is that's emotional.
And when you're stuck in that preventive, resistant mentality, you miss out on the truth underneath it all.
That perceived danger, 9.9 times out of 10, is rooted in your subconscious beliefs.
That, "Oh, I can't be myself. Oh, I have to take care of this person."
Those subconscious beliefs are what's causing your suffering. That's the things outside of you.
And even if they were, you can't control those things. You can only control yourself to the level that you are available to yourself.
So as you become more available and witness that I am painting all of these things, red alarm, S.O.S. problem, antagonist,
versus realizing that all of it is an opportunity to witness what you've never witnessed before about yourself so that you might heal and grow.
So you want to connect to your intuition, become available. You can do it with that intention.
One of my favorite questions to ask more practically is, "What do I need to know today?"
Every morning I get up and I get into my meditation. So I have a moment to sit down, feel the body relax, wakes up, feel the vitality of your being.
And then, once I'm connected to my meta-awareness, I'll just ask, "What do I need to know today?" "Dear heart, what do I need to know today?"
And I'll wait. And then one way or another my intuition speaks. But it's a very subtle vibration, or whether it takes a very primal connection to the life incessantly flowing through you.
So you can tap into that space. There's a real power.
And oftentimes the message is very simple. Because that part of yourself isn't concerned with day-to-day life nonsense.
And the reason is, it's similar to the same way that we aren't concerned with the things that a child is concerned with.
That maybe mad someone stole their crayon, or playing with a toy that they don't even like anymore.
Or something else that's very common.
But if you notice, we do the same thing. We also have our jealousy and our attachment to things.
So sometimes the message would be just to subtle, "Be patient."
It's simple, be patient. Stay aware of this part of yourself today. Witness this.
Go for a walk. It doesn't give you all of the full, this naive thinking that we have that will get all of the information about everything about life. Sometimes you might have profound, shifting, life-impacting awakenings. It was definitely come.
But generally, it's knowing that the best thing I can do is be fully present to right here and now.
And it means different things in different moments.
And intuition is connected to that. It's connected to the collective field of intelligence. All beings, all at once.
And it's giving you what you need to know for this moment, so that you have enough support and backing to build confidence and courage and boldness for the next moment.
And in that process, you learn to trust that inner knowing. Right? Just trust it. We have our reason, we have our logic, and do what makes sense as long as it's aligned. Do the practical, responsible things.
But there's so much of our life that is creative, that is in our own power, that is of our own choosing.
And when you are making those kinds of decisions and navigating those scenarios, tuning into the intuition is key.
So, that's how you tune in to your intuition.
Would you guys like to do a little intuitive practice real quick?
Yeah? Okay.
So, let's do a little intuition check.
So, we'll take five minutes.
And this five minutes, all I want you to do is breathe, just stay connected to your breath.
And we're going to do a little exercise.
And then we'll invite our intuition in. Right? So, it's called sitting back in the seat.
All right? You'll envision yourself in a movie theater. And most of us, if we're in a movie theater, the way that we experience life is in the front row.
It's like we're in the scene.
Right? And we become every person, right? Have you ever been in those, you know, seen a really great movie, and you go on that whole, immerseional journey with all the characters? And you're crying, and you're laughing, and you're sad, and you're angry.
But if you've ever been in a bad film, sometimes you're sitting back in the seat like, "What is this?" And you're very detached from it. And so, this is a practical way to kind of connect to your meta-awareness.
And we're not trying to turn it into a bad film, per se. We're just trying to get to that space of detachment, non-attachment to the thoughts that are coming through that are on the big screen. And instead of sitting in the front row, you want to be in the very back row, reclined and relaxed, just witnessing it.
And once we get into that state, then we're going to invite our intuition in.
And I'll wait till we get to that moment to ask that question with you.
We'll do this with the guitar, and this will be like a very micro-dose of what we do every morning in the beautiful souls community. We tap into our intuition every day in that meditation practice. If you're interested in that, this resonates. You can learn more about it on my page.
All right, so, take five minutes and I'll guide you as we play guitar.
So allow your eyes to gently close. [music]
Receiving a deep breath in, settle into your body.
And as you exhale, settle your body into your seat. [music] Another low belly breath in, and allow this breath to lengthen your spine.
Envision the crown of your head being pulled upward by a thread of love,
and your tailbone being anchored into the earth by the force of gravity.
Exhaling into a posture of dignity and peace. [music]
Now become present
to any thoughts that are active in your mind. [music] Become a pure witness. [music] And as you do, see the edges of the screen around them.
[music]
Envision yourself in an empty theater, just you and the screen.
[music] And for the next two minutes, you breathe in and turn your awareness to whatever thought is most present.
And as you exhale, you move back a row in the theater. [music]
So breathe, focus on the thought.
Exhale, move back a row in the theater and weaken its connection.
[music]
You'll be right here for two minutes.
And I'll hold space as you breathe and let go for the next two minutes.
[music] [music]
[music] [music] [music]
[music] [music] [music]
[music] [music] [music]
[music] And now, one more low belly breath in.
[music] And as you exhale, sit all the way back in your seat reclined in the back row of the theater.
And exhale. [music] [music]
Relaxing into this state of meta-awareness.
Without attachment to all that is on the screen.
We ask one question to connect to our intuition. [music]
And the question is, "Dear intuition, how do you wish to speak to me?"
And in this space we listen.
We stay available to witness what we've never witnessed before about ourselves. So that we might heal and grow.
And we don't try to answer this question.
We just rest in this state of meta-awareness. [music]
We'll be right here for one minute.
[music] [music] [music]
[music] [music] [music]
[music] [music] [music]
We'll be here for a few more breaths.
Feeling any resistance or doubt.
As you exhale, let it go.
Continue to hold in the space, trusting that your intuition will speak.
Will communicate when it's ready.
[music] [music] [music]
[music] And now one more low belly breath all together.
Breathing in. [music] With gratitude for this time and space connection together and our intuition.
Exhaling and returning to space as you're ready. Opening your eyes.
[music] Hmm.
The love, light and truth within me honors the love, light and truth within you. Namaste.
Hmm.
So, I'm curious. Does anyone want to share?
Did you hear anything from your intuition? Were you seeing a vision? Did you feel a sensation in your body?
And if you didn't get any of those things or feel like your intuition connected with you, sometimes these things take time. You won't get a response immediately.
But most times, later in the week or later in the day, there will be a moment and then it like almost smacks you in the face. Feels very resonant. You can feel it in your entire body and it feels grounded and clear but elevated.
Um, so, yeah, it's open and I'd love to hear what you guys experienced. And I'll tell you what I experienced too.
[silence]
I saw myself playing the movie. I'm the one writing the script. Whoa. [laughs] I just saw an eye. Wow, that's potent.
Let's see. I didn't realize how much I needed that. Left the movie theater all together. [laughs] Yeah, that's amazing. I saw Wonder Woman. My intuition told me, yes, I am still a spiritual warrior. Wow. [laughs] Hmm. I had a hard time. My dog kept barking at me. [laughs] Well, you can try it again later. You know the practice now.
I heard that I need peace and saw portions of a beautiful field with trees and boulders to climb. Wow.
[laughs]
I heard you don't owe anyone anything. Rest. Well, that's clear, isn't it? [laughs] I felt a tingling sensation on the left side of my head and felt unconditional love and peace. Hmm. I see. I need to apply for a radio presenter job. Wow. Intuition is right there. It just takes that moment to get out of that frequency, sit back in your seat, get into meta-awareness, and then ask a question. We asked a very broad question, but you can ask anything you like. It's always there. It's always available.
Just most of the time we're in beta frequency. I don't mean that as a hierarchy. I just mean it's a very busy mind, it's an actual frequency of vibration. It's very fast. And we're connected to it. So distracted by all the things in our to-do list.
We forget that there is a wisdom in being, and we're not attached to it. We can still be present to it. Right? You're still in the theater, just not in the front row.
There's so much more happening, so much more under the surface.
I want to tell you guys what I experienced, because I allowed myself to go there too. But I wasn't just facilitating. I was a partaker of this experience with you.
So I got to the back row. I was very relaxed. I was almost laid on my back. I wasn't even hearing the thoughts. I wasn't seeing them.
And then I saw around me when I asked a question about my intuition.
I was in the center of what it felt like a circle. And there were light rays that were just coming at me, but they were moving in and out from all 360 degrees.
And my intuition was like, "I'm showing you how I speak everywhere at all times."
Everywhere at all times. And it's so potent. It's such a gift. And it's like, "Yeah, that's how I experience my intuition."
I get information all the time. And I've learned just how to be present in a light way. It doesn't have to be so heavy or dramatic or serious. Just aware. Just like I'm aware of my space and all these things are around me. Intuitive information is always around you in that same way. But it takes tapping into that awareness to understand it, to know, and to be available to it.
But beyond that, I think what's really beautiful is that everyone went through the same, I gave you all one prompt, sit back in the theater. We asked a question.
And we wait and listen. Everybody had a different response. Everybody got different information.
And that is your intuition. That's your inner wisdom. A lot of times I'll say heart because that's an easier word for people to universally receive. It's less triggered or charged.
But that's how you stay on your path. Someone asked me earlier, "Who did you admire? Who is your inspiration to be who you are?" My intuition.
I've been doing that every day for over a decade. And I learned to surrender and become courageous enough to just honor it every time. It doesn't even matter if it makes sense to me or not. Just honor it. And every time I do, something beautiful happens. I tell someone a very common, simple phrase, but for them it triggers something. Or it opens something up because they are ready and primed to hear it.
Because here's the thing. That intuition is connected to universal intelligence. It's connected to everything. That's the beauty. And it gives you what you need in the moment. Some people are getting responses, that helping them heal. Other people are getting insights. Some people are letting go of relationships.
It's always connected to what's real for you in the moment that needs your attention so that you can heal and grow.
And the more you're present to it, the more easily those emotions, that energy in motion that's been blocking your connection to intuition, blocking you from actually engaging life on your terms because you're afraid, or lacking confidence, or any collection of all those things rooted in fear.
To connect to love and presence and know I can experience all of these things and still thrive. As long as I continue to show up and not shrink.
So that took us 8 minutes. You can do that. You have 8 minutes. You can carve out 8 minutes. Yeah, I'm glad you guys asked about it, Tasha. I didn't know where we'd go today. It's been a really beautiful session. Thank you all for joining me for this live stream. Hope you all have a wonderful day. I hope that you connect to your intuition more often.
And if you'd like to join me each morning for meditation, some more information about the Beautiful Souls membership and a soul called Joel.com. Be well, Beautiful Souls. And we'll see you soon.
Much love and light. Peace.
